A mother and her second husband have strangled her three-year-old daughter in Swat, police have confirmed at a press conference held by the Investigative officer.
According to police, Inamullah, son of Sharifzada, convinced Uzra to divorce her first husband Nasir and then married her, later involving her in criminal activities.
When their three-year-old daughter Tamana became an obstacle to their crimes, the couple strangled her in a hotel room in Mingora. The mother then wrapped the child’s body in a piece of cloth before burying her in a pit in the hills of Amankot.
Khwazakhela police arrested the pair after tracking them through CCTV footage in a motorcycle theft case, recovering 14 stolen motorcycles from their possession.
During interrogation, the suspects revealed they had killed the child.
Acting on the suspect’s directions, police recovered the girl’s body from the burial site and transferred it to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.
