Pakistan has clinched the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Men’s Volleyball Championship 2026 after beating Bangladesh in straight sets in the final on Wednesday.

The match took place at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad.

A packed home crowd watched Pakistan dominate the contest, winning 25-20, 25-16, 25-20. The victory completed a perfect campaign for the hosts, who did not drop a single set across the eight-day tournament.

Pakistan entered into the final unbeaten and remained so with a strong all-round performance. The team relied on powerful serving, disciplined blocking, sharp attacking combinations and solid defence throughout the match.

Pakistan controlled the first set from the start and then raised their intensity in the second, which left Bangladesh struggling to build momentum. Bangladesh fought back in the third set, but Pakistan stayed composed at key moments and closed out the title in style.

The Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) organised the championship under the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA). Six teams took part in the tournament, which showcased the improving standard of volleyball across the region. Pakistan’s unbeaten title run strengthened its position as one of the leading volleyball nations in Central Asia and reinforced its growing reputation as a host for major international sporting events.

Sri Lanka won the bronze medal earlier in the day after a tense five-set match against Uzbekistan. Sri Lanka won 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 19-25, 15-11 to take third place, while Uzbekistan finished fourth.

Pakistan players also picked up most of the individual awards handed out during the closing ceremony.

Murad Jehan was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player for his role in Pakistan’s title win. He was also named as one of the dream team’s outside hitters, alongside Sri Lanka’s Tharusha Chamath Dilshan Weerappulige. Musawer Khan of Pakistan was named best middle blocker, and Murad Khan was named best opposite player.
