Pakistan’s tug of war team delivered a memorable performance at the 6th World Nomad Games 2026 in Kyrgyzstan, defeating Iran in the bronze medal match to secure a podium finish in the 8×8 category.
In a high-pressure contest against Iran, Pakistan’s athletes held their nerve and executed their strategies with precision to claim third place. The result capped off a campaign in which the team consistently demonstrated resilience against some of the world’s strongest tug of war nations.
Among Pakistan’s fixtures against international opponents such as Great Britain, Russia, Korea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Brazil and Georgia, one of the standout moments came earlier in the event with a landmark victory over traditional rivals India, which boosted morale and underscored the team’s competitive edge.
Pakistan also picked up two more bronze medals at the event in Mas-Wrestling. Muhammad Asim won bronze in the 90kg category, while Iqra Naseeb claimed bronze in the above 90kg category.
