Pakistan’s women’s netball team on Saturday clinched the Plate Division title at the Asian Netball Championship 2026, defeating Thailand 55-50 in the final in Hong Kong.
The final was a rematch of the earlier group stage meeting, where Thailand had beaten Pakistan 66-48. This time, Pakistan turned the tables to complete their campaign on a high note.
Pakistan’s path to the final began with a strong 72-23 win over South Korea in their opening Plate Division match. They then suffered their only defeat of the campaign, going down 66-48 to Thailand. The team responded well in their next outing, beating Chinese Taipei 55-38 on Wednesday to book a semi-final spot.
In the semi-final, played to mark Independence Day, Pakistan produced one of their most convincing performances of the tournament, defeating Japan 53-25. The team dominated from the start and maintained control throughout, securing a 28-point win that set up the final against Thailand.
Several players stood out across the tournament, including Saba Noor Anwar, Lia Raza Shah, Hina Chaudhry, Serena Naseem, Jasmine, Farah, Noor-ul-Ain and Samaya Safdar.
The win secures Pakistan’s promotion to the top-tier Cup Division for the next edition of the tournament.
