Pakistani Tekken player Atif Butt has won the Tekken 8 championship at CEO 2026, held from August 14 to 16 at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida.
Competing for Team Falcons, Butt had to fight through the losers bracket after dropping his winners semifinal match. He eliminated Kanme Shadow20z 3-0 and ONIC Rest 3-0 to reach the grand final, where he faced Puerto Rico’s JoeCrush.
JoeCrush arrived at the grand final undefeated from the winners side, meaning Butt needed to beat him twice to take the title. Butt won the first set 3-2 and followed it with a 3-0 sweep in the second set to seal the championship.
CEO 2026 was a Master Tier event on the Tekken World Tour and drew more than 800 entrants in the Tekken 8 division, one of the largest fields at this year’s tournament.
Butt has built one of the strongest records in competitive Tekken over the past several years. He first gained international recognition in 2019 when he won the Tokyo Tekken Masters using the character Akuma. In 2022, he claimed the Tekken World Tour Finals in Amsterdam, defeating South Korea’s JeonDDing in the grand final.
He went on to win CEO 2024 playing Dragunov, then successfully defended the title in 2025 with a 3-1 grand final win over South Korea’s Ulsan.
Alongside his tournament wins, Butt has also built a strong record of runner-up finishes at major events, including second-place results at Evo 2024, the Esports World Cup 2024, the Tekken World Tour Global Finals 2024, Combo Breaker 2025, Evo Las Vegas 2025 and Combo Breaker 2026.
The win marks his third CEO title, following victories in 2024 and 2025.
