Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken serious notice of several former Pakistan cricketers taking part in the 20th Asian Legends League 2026 in Zambia.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) classifies the league as an unsanctioned event under its Regulations on the Sanctioning of Events and Player Release. The Zambia Cricket Union has also not approved the tournament.
The ICC requires all foreign players to obtain a No Objection Certificate from their home board before they take part in overseas cricket events.
Its regulations also require member boards to take action against any player who participates in an unsanctioned event, and failure to do so could bring action against the board itself.
The PCB statement outlined two disciplinary measures for players found to have taken part in the event without the board’s approval. Any such player will face a two-year ban on the issuance of a PCB No Objection Certificate for participation in approved overseas cricket leagues or events, and will also be ineligible for any cricketing, coaching, consultancy, mentoring or other assignment with the PCB or the HBL Pakistan Super League for the same period.
“The PCB remains fully committed to upholding the ICC Regulations and safeguarding the integrity and governance of the game,” the board said in its statement. “The Board reiterates that all current and former cricketers seeking to participate in overseas cricket events requiring PCB clearance must obtain the necessary approvals and NOCs prior to participation.”
The board added that it will continue working closely with the ICC and fellow member boards to ensure compliance with the international regulatory framework that governs the sport.
