Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a warning to Pakistan Super League (PSL) defaulters, asking them to clear their pending dues at the earliest, a news outlet has reported on Saturday.
According to the details, the PSL Governing Council held a meeting in London in the past few days. Some stakeholders currently have large amounts outstanding, and board officials made it clear to the defaulters that they must pay the full amount under all circumstances, regardless of the challenges they face.
During the meeting, the concerned parties explained the financial difficulties they are currently facing. They also stated that the Iran-US war had affected their affairs and that recoveries have not been possible so far.
In response, board officials maintained that whatever the reasons may be, clearing the dues remains mandatory.
The meeting also discussed the window for PSL 12. Franchises want the tournament held in April, while the broadcaster wants it to start in January. A representative from the broadcaster argued that most sponsors spend the bulk of their budgets early on, making the start of the year a more suitable time for the competition.
One of the owners responded by saying the agreement does not mention any final dates, so the broadcaster should also follow the board’s decision.
The owner added that if the dates are finalised now, it would also give enough time to secure sponsorships.
The PCB has asked the franchises to submit their proposals after holding consultations among themselves.
The meeting also touched on the possibility of organising a tournament for PSL teams along the lines of the Hong Kong Sixes, though no decision has been made on this yet.
