Punjab government has approved the recruitment of retired military personnel to monitor educational institutions across 22 districts, with the hiring process already under way, according to news reports.
The retired personnel will be appointed as Monitoring and Evaluation Officers on one-year contracts under the Punjab Education Foundation.
They will receive a monthly salary of Rs60,000, along with other facilities and benefits available under the education department’s rules.
The monitoring officers will also be provided with official motorcycles for field duties. Their contracts may be extended after the initial one-year term, according to the reports.
Applications have been invited until September 7 from retired military personnel, including General Duty Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers.
Applicants must be aged between 30 and 55, hold a graduation degree and have a Punjab domicile.
Candidates are also required to have experience in information technology and be physically fit, the report said.
In the first phase, 28 Monitoring and Evaluation Officers will be recruited. Of these, 21 positions will be filled by retired military personnel, while seven will be offered to civilians.
Recruitment for other districts will take place in a second phase, according to the report.
The appointments are being made through the Punjab Education Foundation, which will oversee the recruitment process for the monitoring positions.
The measures come as the provincial government moves to continue monitoring arrangements in schools while retaining a large number of temporary teaching staff through the current academic session.
