Former Pakistan captain and legendary pacer Wasim Akram has rejected an Indian social media user’s claim that a Pakistani bowler once disrespected him during a training camp in Lahore.
As per the details, the user in their X post alleged that one bowler, during a team camp in Lahore, lost his cool when Akram tried to fix a technical issue in the nets.
“One of the bowlers, who was bowling very well at the time, was continuously bowling no-balls in the nets. I asked him to work on his front-foot landing. His ego was hurt, and he told me, ‘I know what I’m doing. Go and guide the young bowlers. I don’t need your guidance’,” the post quoted Akram as saying.
It further claimed that this was when the former cricketing star ruled out ever coaching the national side.
Responding directly to the post, Akram dismissed the claim.
“Are you coming up with random crap again? It never happened, everyone in Pakistan has utmost respect for me including the Pakistan cricket team,” he wrote.
While the fake post also attributed statements regarding sloppiness of the team to Akram, which it claimed he “found very disappointing and unprofessional”, this is not the first time the legendary former pacer has had to call out false claims circulating about him.
In October 2025, he criticised Indian media outlets for mistakenly using his photograph in reports about a YouTuber, also named Wasim Akram, who was arrested in Haryana on espionage charges.
Akram had then urged both journalists and social media users to verify facts before sharing information.
