The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has made history on Tuesday when Peshawar Zalmi’s Qualifier clash against Islamabad United at the National Bank Stadium, becoming the first to feature Pashto commentary, streamed through a deal between the franchise and BigBaat.

Reactions online were instant and enthusiastic. Ahsan Tahir of Walee Technologies wrote on social media: “Woke up to an overwhelming response for the #PASHTO commentary on @BigBaatOfficial, truly grateful.”

Fans echoed the sentiment.

One supporter, while sharing a video of Babar Azam’s century, wrote, “Pashto commentary makes it more delicious.” Another drew a viral comparison, “Why does this Pashto commentary remind me of that ‘Ankara Messi’ ‘Ankara Messi’ one?”

Others kept it simple, “Pashto commentary in PSL, this is something special”. A fan noted: “Only the energy of Pashto commentary could match the magnitude of this moment.”

The feed also drew comparisons to another beloved broadcast style, with a fan writing, “Pashto commentary giving Arabic commentary vibes. Goosebumps.”

The commentary team’s reaction to Babar’s century drew particular praise, with fans describing their energy as commendable in the moment.

The Qualifier itself gave the Pashto commentators plenty to work with. Babar Azam’s blistering century, backed by a dominant bowling display, powered Peshawar Zalmi to a 70-run victory over Islamabad United. Chasing a target of 222, United were bowled out for 151 in 18.4 overs. The result sent Zalmi directly into the final, scheduled for Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday.

Pashto commentary will continue for Zalmi’s remaining matches in PSL 11.
