More than 3,500 Pakistanis in the country and around the world came together through Lifebuoy Run for Pakistan 2026 on Independence Day, turning running into a powerful celebration of national pride, unity and the spirit of Pakistan.

Organized by Sports in Pakistan in partnership with Falcon Triathlon Club for the Lahore activity and Islamabad Runners Club for the Islamabad activity, the celebratory initiative brought runners together simultaneously across Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, while Pakistanis living abroad joined virtually from different parts of the world.

Karachi witnessed the largest participation, with more than 2,500 runners taking part in the Independence Day celebration at DHA Phase 8. More than 400 participants joined the activity in Islamabad, while over 300 runners participated in Lahore. At least 100 Pakistanis from different parts of the world, including the USA, UK, Canada and UAE, also joined the celebrations through the virtual run.

Participants had the option of taking part in 7km, 14km and 21km distances, with runners of different ages and abilities coming together under one common theme: Run for Pakistan.

Importantly, Lifebuoy Run for Pakistan was designed as a celebratory run rather than a competitive race. There were no winners or losers, no race-day pressure and no emphasis on finishing positions. For the organizers, every participant was a winner for showing up, moving for a healthier lifestyle and celebrating Pakistan’s Independence Day through sport.

Speaking after the event, Shoaib Nizami, CEO Sports in Pakistan, said:

“The response to Lifebuoy Run for Pakistan has been overwhelming and has shown us once again how running can bring people together. More than 3,500 Pakistanis, from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad to different parts of the world, came together with one message: we Run for Pakistan.”

Nizami added:

“This was never about who was fastest or who crossed the finish line first. Every person who wore the event bib, carried the Pakistani flag, put on their running shoes and participated was a winner. The real victory was seeing thousands of Pakistanis celebrating Independence Day together through sport, health and unity.”

The virtual component further extended the reach of the initiative beyond Pakistan, with Pakistani runners participating from different cities and countries and carrying the national spirit into their own communities.

A special feature of this year’s event was the Year of Quaid-e-Azam Medal, commemorating 150 years since the birth of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The medal was designed not simply as a symbol of completing a distance, but as a tribute to the legacy of the founder of Pakistan.

Lifebuoy, the Title Sponsor of Run for Pakistan 2026, supported the initiative as part of its commitment to promoting healthier communities and encouraging people to embrace an active lifestyle.

Nizami thanked Lifebuoy, Falcon Triathlon Club, Islamabad Runners Club, volunteers, partners and participants for helping make the initiative a nationwide and global celebration.

“We are grateful to everyone who made Lifebuoy Run for Pakistan possible. From our partners and volunteers to every runner who came out on Independence Day, this was a collective effort. The biggest achievement was seeing thousands of people come together under one flag.”

With more than 3,500 participants across Pakistan and around the world, Lifebuoy Run for Pakistan 2026 transformed Independence Day into a celebration of movement, health, unity and national pride, reinforcing the message that regardless of where Pakistanis live or how fast they run, they can always Run for Pakistan.
