Salman Ali Agha has been removed as the Pakistan T20I captain and will also be dropped from the squad along with pacers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, media reports claimed Wednesday, adding that an announcement was expected shortly.
According to reports, Agha is also out of the Test side and will now only be part of Pakistan’s ODI squad.
While Sahibzada Farhan and Shadab Khan are reportedly competing to take over as the T20I captain, it may be noted that Farhan is currently leading Pakistan at the Asian Games in Japan.
Reports also said that Afridi, despite his removal from the T20I squad, will continue to lead Pakistan in ODIs.
Meanwhile, Raza Ullah, who starred in the Edgbaston Test, is a strong candidate for a place in both the T20I and ODI squads. Test captain Babar Azam is also expected to feature in both formats.
