TikToker Kashif Zameer was arrested by Punjab police on Friday for allegedly disrespecting the police.

The case was filed after a video on TikTok showed Zameer giving a man wearing a police uniform a tray of money at a wedding. That man was later confirmed to be driver constable Khurram Shahzad.

According to the police report, when a case was filed against Shahzad, Zameer tried to defend him. He posted another TikTok video where Shahzad’s clothes were changed to plain black shalwar kameez using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Zameer claimed that the police uniform in the original video had been edited.

However, during an earlier investigation, Shahzad confirmed that he was indeed wearing the police uniform in the original video at the wedding.

According to the FIR, both Zameer and Shahzad disrespected the police and spread false information using AI. Charges were filed under PECA’s electronic forgery and spoofing laws, along with other sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The case has been declared “high profile” by the Punjab Prosecutor General, Syed Farhad Ali Shah. He has asked the investigation officer to bring all records for further inquiry.

In a video post on Instagram, Zameer said that the man in the video was actually his personal guard, not a police officer. He claimed that “enemies” used AI to edit the footage and falsely show him supporting a police officer because he had earlier spoken in favor of YouTuber Rajab Butt.

Zameer added that he respects the Punjab police and plans to fight the case in the high court.
