Two Sri Lankan Under-19 cricketers have been arrested after women staying at a hotel in Narahenpita, Colombo complained that the players filmed them in their bathrooms using mobile phones.
The players were staying with the rest of their squad at the hotel when the complaints were made. Police arrested both cricketers earlier this week and are now investigating whether any of the footage was shared online.
Both players appeared at the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court for their initial hearing and were released on personal bail of 500,000 Sri Lankan rupees each, equivalent to approximately $1,564. They are due to appear in court again on May 25.
Sri Lanka Cricket has not taken any disciplinary action against the two players so far.
