Pakistan all-rounder Khushdil Shah has alleged that India benefits from favourable umpiring and match-related decisions during India-Pakistan encounters.
Khushdil made the remarks on a podcast with a private media outlet alongside teammate Abbas Afridi, where the two discussed the pressure and emotions surrounding matches against India.
“There’s always pressure before playing India but those matches carry a few extra emotions that help ease it a bit,” Khushdil said.
He said while Pakistan has also won a few matches against the archrivals in recent years, several factors tend to work in India’s favour during these clashes.
“Things tend to go in their favour during matches. Umpiring decisions go in their favor, as do some dressing-room decisions and even matches are held according to their wishes,” he said.
Khushdil added that victories against India carry extra satisfaction precisely because of those perceived challenges.
“Despite all that, when Pakistan wins, it’s especially enjoyable,” he said.
It is worth noting that Pakistan last beat India in the Super Four stage of the 2022 Asia Cup in Dubai. Since then, India have won six consecutive T20Is against Pakistan.
In ODIs, Pakistan’s last victory over India came in the 2017 Champions Trophy final since which Green Shirts have lost six straight matches.
