A video showing a girl identified on social media as “Mehak Pindi Wali” has gone viral after it appeared to show her batting confidently against fast bowlers in a tape-ball cricket match.
Wearing a shalwar kameez, dupatta and slippers, she is seen striking the ball with ease, drawing widespread attention online.
A closer look at the footage, however, raises several red flags.
There are no records of her playing cricket before the video surfaced on social media. No earlier videos, posts or public record place her playing cricket or being associated with the game before yesterday, when the clips first began appearing online. There is no indication she has played competitively, nor any trace of her identity beyond the viral clips themselves.
Multiple videos have surfaced showing her playing what appear to be different matches, at different locations, all within the same short window of time. The timeline does not add up.
Playing several matches in different venues on the same day is not realistic.
Several frames from the videos also show visual glitches consistent with AI manipulation. In some clips, it looks as though an original batter has been digitally replaced with her. The movement of the bat and the way her body responds to the shots do not match the physics, adding further doubt to the footage’s authenticity.
Her attire adds to suspicion as well. Facing fast bowlers in an all-men’s tape-ball match while wearing slippers rather than proper cricket footwear is not something a genuine competitive batter would typically do.
Despite the inconsistencies, the videos have circulated widely among social media users, with fast bowling legend Shoaib Akhtar also sharing the clip on his Instagram stories.
