Indian batter Virat Kohli allegedly paid INR5 crore (about PKR14 crore) to visit spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj’s ashram in Vrindavan.
Dinesh Sharma, known as Falahari Maharaj and president of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Nyas, has said in a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that people linked to a private company in Rajasthan offered or spent the money to bring Kohli to the ashram. Falahari Maharaj says the aim was to raise Premanand Maharaj’s profile.
The letter also levels serious allegations about activities in the ashram.
Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have visited Premanand Maharaj several times. They first met him in Vrindavan in January 2023 with their daughter Vamika. They returned in 2025 after Kohli announced he is retiring from Tests in May, and they visited again this year.
Kohli has not reacted to the allegation so far.
