FIFA president Gianni Infantino has confirmed that the 2026 FIFA World Cup final will include a halftime show, a historic first for the tournament.
The final takes place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Infantino described the occasion as a moment where “sport, music, and culture come together.” FIFA has brought in Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to curate the show in partnership with Global Citizen, the advocacy organisation known for staging large-scale music events.
FIFA has not revealed which artists will perform. Organisers have kept the lineup under wraps despite widespread speculation.
The 2026 tournament is the first men’s World Cup to feature 48 teams, up from the previous 32-team format. Celebrations are also planned at Times Square in New York City alongside the final.
Billions of viewers are expected to watch worldwide.
