Shazia Wajahat took to social media to express her pride in her son, actor Aashir Wajahat, after a scene from his drama serial Kafeel sent the internet into a frenzy.
“I gave birth to you… but today, you gave the whole nation something to feel,” she wrote.
“You’ve made me proud every single day since you were born, but watching you move hearts and bring tears to so many through your performance… not only me but the whole nation cried with Subuk. Not just my son, but an artist who touched an entire nation. So incredibly proud of you”.
The scene shows Daneen’s father sitting down with Subuk, the character Aashir plays and telling him that his daughter, despite being surrounded by wealthier suitors, chose him.
The father tells Subuk that Daneen could change his fortune, and that their family is prepared to wait for him for as long as it takes. “Humare dil ko tou Subuk bhaa gaya hai,” he tells him.
Subuk sits through it all, listening, with tears running down his face and that was enough to break the internet.
This scene drew a massive flood of reactions.
“Wow. We don’t find these kinds of parents and boys who are so genuinely honest and true to themselves. Brilliantly portrayed,” one person wrote.
“I’ve been replaying that scene over and over again. What an incredibly moving performance by Subuk,” another remarked.
“The way that conversation unfolds is just breathtaking. I’m honestly speechless,” a third added.
“This scene just destroyed me. I’m crying, a young man in love but willing to sacrifice his happiness to give his girl a better life. And Daneen’s father? He deserves a trophy. He sees nothing beyond happiness for this couple,” one viewer wrote.
“Both did an amazing job. Subuk, you are a gem,” came another response, while others kept it short: “Take a bow, Subuk”.
The performance itself drew repeated praise. “The way he cried portrayed his vulnerability like a professional. This one scene, wow, just wow,” one person noted.
“This child deserves an award. What a performance,” another wrote.
Several viewers connected the scene to their own lives. “Realistic and relatable to many boys, beautifully depicted,” one comment read. “It’s not a drama. It is the life of human beings,” said another.
“What a beautiful scene hats off to those mothers who raise children like Subuk,” one viewer wrote. “If only all girls had fathers like this,” added another, while a third urged, “Be Subuk and Daneen’s parents in a world full of toxicity”.
Aashir’s work in the scene also drew comparisons and wider admiration. “Watching this, this guy who plays Subuk has completely floored me with his acting skills,” one viewer remarked. Another noted that while they had initially imagined someone else in the role, Aashir brought something entirely his own to it.
“Aashir, you’re an inspiration, not just inspiring a generation but changing hearts and lives with your work. Keep shining,” one comment read. “Subuk – the best son. Loved his acting and innocence,” added another.
