Ruby Guest: Exploring the Journey of Jamie Lee Curtis’s Transgender Daughter

The actress Jamie Lee Curtis has a daughter named Ruby Guest. Jamie married Christopher in 1984 and later experienced difficulty conceiving. In an interview, she said, “For us, adoption was the only option to create a family. It becomes a realistic possibility once you decide to be a family.” They adopted their first daughter, Annie, in 1986. Furthermore, the couple adopted Ruby Guest in 1996. 

How Ruby Guest Knew She Was Transgender at 16

Ruby Guest and her mother shared Ruby’s journey of self-discovery, especially when she came to terms with who she was. 

“I remember one time a trans person I knew asked me what my gender was and I said I was a male. But I started reflecting on that and came to the realization that while I may not be Ruby, I certainly am different.” Ruby Guest goes on to say, “The truth is I have an awful experience with therapy and as a result I never really came to terms with being trans.”

Once Ruby manages to convince her fiancé that she is trans, she goes back to the name of Tom. It was the name she used for over seven years. Kynthia was incredibly supportive, but it was a completely different experience for her parents.

Ruby Guest Tells Her Parents She's Trans Over Text

The transgender daughter of Jamie Lee Curtis faced a significant roadblock when it was time to come out to her parents. While she intended to tell them while staying in their Los Angeles house, she could not and fled. So, Ruby decided to send a text message to her mother. When Jamie read the text, she called Ruby to speak to her. She was surprised but had also seen signs indicating something was off to her. Jamie Lee accepted that getting used to Ruby’s name and pronouns was challenging. However, she is eager to learn and support her child during this shift.

Kynthia is now Ruby Guest’s Wife

On May 29, 2022, Ruby married their fiancée, Kynthia. The wedding was held in the family's backyard and themed around the World of Warcraft game. In the game, Jamie Lee plays an admiral named Jaina Proudmoore, and she shared a picture with the couple on Instagram. During an interview, Jamie said she was excited and happy that her children were getting married in the backyard, where the family would spend time together.
