The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has said that it has arrested two suspected agents of India’s external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), near the Western Bypass in Okara, alleging that they were planning attacks on sensitive and security installations in the area.
According to CTD officials, Under Officer Fida Hussain and his team were on mobile patrol late on Wednesday night when they received information about the suspects’ presence.
Acting on the intelligence, the team raided the location and arrested Muhammad Aziz, a resident of Badha Baar, Peshawar, and Walayat Shah, a resident of Post Office Mosa Zai, Peshawar, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The CTD alleged that the two men were preparing to carry out terrorist attacks targeting sensitive locations in and around Okara. The department did not disclose further details about the alleged plot.
Officials have said that the suspects were carrying two shoulder bags containing 1,947 grams and 1,806 grams of explosive material, respectively.
They confirmed that officers also seized electronic devices, improvised explosive devices, two iron boxes, six battery holders, electric circuits, four detonators, connecting wires and Rs5,500 in cash.
According to the CTD, Bomb Disposal Squad personnel, led by Naveed Hyder of Okara, responded to the scene and defused the two live explosive devices found in the suspects’ bags.
The department said it registered Case No. 24/26 under Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Act, 1908, which deal with offences involving explosive substances, and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1996, which covers terrorism-related offences.

CTD officials said they transferred both suspects to the department’s headquarters in Sahiwal, where investigators are continuing their inquiry.
