Famous Egyptian TikToker 'Yasmin' turns out to be a boy

TikTok users have been left stunned after it has been revealed that popular Egyptian influencer 'Yasmin' is not who she claimed to be.

According to Arab media, the matter came to light after complaints were filed at a police station about the female TikToker’s dance videos. The police then summoned TikToker Yasmin for questioning and further investigation.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the person posing as a girl and running TikTok under the name Yasmin was actually an 18-year-old boy named Abdul Rahman.

The student admitted: "I created this account only to increase followers and earn money."

Following his arrest, the court initially placed him on a four-day remand. He was later released on bail of 5,000 Egyptian pounds (about $105).

Abdul Rahman, who lives with his divorced mother in a village, was described by neighbors as a quiet and ordinary student at the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management. One neighbor expressed disbelief: "We are in shock. What we saw as a normal young boy was fooling the world by becoming a girl."

An Interior Ministry spokesman confirmed: "Abdul Rahman has been charged with impersonating a woman and publishing immoral content."

This case has drawn attention as Egyptian authorities continue their crackdown on so-called “immoral content” on social media. In recent years, several female TikTok influencers have been arrested for posting lewd dances or explicit content, with some even sentenced to prison.
