Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has set a new world record for the fastest half-century in women’s T20 international cricket, reaching the milestone in just 15 balls against Zimbabwe at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Friday.
Sana came to the crease with Pakistan at 152 for 4 and immediately took control. She smashed 10 fours and two sixes on her way to an unbeaten 62 off 19 balls, finishing at a strike rate of 326. Pakistan posted 223 for 4, and Zimbabwe were bowled out for 90 in 17.1 overs, handing Pakistan a 133-run victory and a 3-0 series clean sweep.
Saira Baig contributed 50 runs while Ayesha Zafar added 45 to help Pakistan build the commanding total.
The previous record of 18 balls was jointly held by three players: New Zealand’s Sophie Devine, who set it against India in July 2015; Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield, who matched it against the West Indies in 2023; and India’s Richa Ghosh, who equalled it against the same opponents in 2024.
Sana broke all three of them in one innings.
