Good morning,*|MERGE1|*.  It’s August 19 and self-reflecting Thursday.

Yesterday was such a horrific and sad day. A woman in Lahore was assaulted and stripped by hundreds of men all at once. I fail to understand what could compel every man there to act like a monster. Then people say, ‘It’s not all men’. She was being groped by them for 2.5 hours and no one helped her.

WHERE ARE WE GOING AS A SOCIETY?

The police has registered a case against them and many celebs and politicians condemned the incident.

Moreover, I urge you all to stop sharing that video and report it.

MAY JUSTICE PREVAIL SOON.

It is a sunny day!

Women’s Action Forum condemns ‘reprehensible’ attack at Minar-e-Pakistan

The Women’s Action Forum (WAF) condemned the attack on a woman in Minar-e-Pakistan by 400 men on 14 August. Their statement shed light on the irresponsible reporting of the incident by the local media. “Interviews given by the survivor on digital media have clearly shown how trauma is also being used to create sensationalism and it is important to remember that clips of her being mass groped may continue to haunt her in years to come.”

Ayesha, the survivor’s statement

She said in the FIR that she and six other members of her YouTube channel visited Azadi Chowk to record a video clip of the Independence Day celebrations.

She said, “We were shooting a clip when a good number of youngsters started teasing me. They were joined by more and more. Seeing the suspects harassing me, the security guard of the Minar-e-Pakistan Park opened the central gate to let her enter to take shelter. When I crossed the gate and entered the park, the suspects came after me. They tore my clothes and molested me. They dragged and tossed me up in the air for fun. They also beat my team members, and used abusive language.” She added that the harassment continued for almost three hours before some (of them) people finally managed to rescue her.”

 Recent developments

According to Dawn, the footage is being collected from CCTV cameras and TikTok clips. At least 10 suspects have been identified.

PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari has said that Prime Minister Khan has personally spoken to the Punjab inspector general of police about the incident.

PRESIDENT BIDEN’S AND TRUDEAU’S STANCE

In his speech, Biden said that the US troops could not defend a nation whose leaders “gave up and fled”, as did Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

“I stand squarely behind my decision. After 20 years, I have learned the hard way that there was never a good time to withdraw US forces,” Biden said in a televised address.

Canadian President Trudeau said the Taliban are seizing power in Afghanistan by force, which is the reason Canada won’t recognise the Islamist fundamentalist group as the government of the war-torn country.

For those who don’t know:

Muharram is the second most sacred and holiest month of the Islamic calendar. In this month, Muslims mourn the death of Imam Hussain R.A, the son of Hazrat Ali and the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who died in the battle of Karbala.

His (R.A) death holds a special place in the Shia as well as Sunni belief as he is considered a martyr who fought against oppression.

I have been using an eco-friendly toothbrush for two weeks. When buying it, I had doubts lekin it’s extremely good plus it’s benefiting our environment so why not. Usually, such things are expensive but it was under Rs 350. I bought it from Al-Fatah in Lahore but I am sure it’s available everywhere — just look for it next time achay se.
