Pakistan women’s team has crushed Zimbabwe by 206 runs in the second ODI at National Bank Stadium in Karachi to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
Batting first, Pakistan posted 343/4 in 50 overs, their second-highest ODI total ever. Openers Gull Feroza and Sadaf Shamas put on 189 runs for the first wicket, the second-highest opening partnership in Women’s ODIs for Pakistan and their second consecutive 150-plus opening stand.
Gull Feroza scored a century off just 93 balls, the fastest hundred by a Pakistani woman in ODIs, before falling for 100. Sadaf Shamas went on to make 101, with both openers registering maiden ODI hundreds, only the second time Pakistan’s openers have both scored centuries in the same ODI innings.
Sadaf also became the first Pakistan batter to score fifty-plus in four consecutive Women’s ODIs.
Sidra Amin remained unbeaten on 59, taking her tally to 22 fifty-plus scores in Women’s ODIs, the most by any Pakistan batter.
Chasing 344, Zimbabwe, the team were bowled out for 137. Pisei Pnodya top-scored with 33 and Mutange Wandu made 29. Fatima Sana took three wickets while Aroob Shah, Momina Riaz and Ramin Shamim chipped in with two wickets each.
The 206-run victory is the biggest win by runs in Pakistan women’s ODI history. It also made Pakistan only the second team to post four consecutive 300-plus scores in women’s ODIs.
Pakistan had beaten Zimbabwe by 168 runs in the first ODI.
