Pakistani players dominated headlines in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 final, even as the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons claimed their maiden title with an eight-wicket win over the Jamaica Kingsmen at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Sunday.
Maaz Sadaqat produced the standout batting performance of the tournament, smashing 114 runs off just 58 balls for Jamaica Kingsmen, an innings studded with eight fours and nine sixes. It marked the first century ever scored in a CPL final and was the 21-year-old’s second hundred of the season.
Sadaqat received little support at the other end, with only Saim Ayub managing to reach double figures, contributing 29 off 22 balls. The Kingsmen were restricted to 170 for 9 in their 20 overs.
Pakistan left-arm wrist-spinner Sufiyan Moqeem then turned the contest in the Falcons’ favour with the ball, claiming 4 for 14 from his four overs to earn the Player of the Match award.
His spell triggered a collapse in the Kingsmen innings and set the tone for the chase that followed. Moqim finished the tournament in red-hot form, taking eight wickets for 27 runs combined across Qualifier 1 and the final, with figures of 4/13 against Guyana Amazon Warriors and 4/14 against Jamaica Kingsmen.
Chasing 171 for victory, the Falcons cruised home in 16.4 overs. Amir Jangoo led the chase with an unbeaten 57 off 34 balls, striking four fours and three sixes, while Hasan Nawaz stayed not out on 47 from 35 deliveries and struck the winning six.
Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan capped off a stellar campaign by winning the tournament’s top individual award, finishing CPL 2026 with 132 runs and 11 wickets across the season.
The win gave the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons their first CPL title, in what was only their third year in the competition, while the Jamaica Kingsmen finished runners-up in their debut season in the league.
