The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has again shown a preference for Wahab Riaz, initiating the process to hire him as a coach, media reports have said.

According to ARY, PCB has given him a ticket to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Workshop in the Maldives, but he does not have coaching experience. He will attend the workshop with Shahid Nawaz, the Head Coach of the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Last year, due to a conflict of interest, Inzamam-ul-Haq left the post of Chief Selector, and then Zaka Ashraf replaced him with Wahab. When Mohsin Naqvi became the PCB chairman, he also retained him as a selection committee member.

Later, the post of senior manager was also given to him.

This year, Wahab was removed from the T20 World Cup for poor performance and disciplinary violations, but preparations are underway to bring him back into coaching.
