‘PM Khan is the authority in appointing the DG ISI’: Fawad Chaudhry
|
|
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday confirmed the meeting between Prime Minister Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa held on Monday.
Fawad’s statement:
“Gen Bajwa and the prime minister have close and good relations … they are ideal relations between the civilian and military leadership,” he said, adding that the Prime Minister’s Office would “never take a step that will disrespect the army and vice versa”.
Commenting on the appointment of the Director-General (DG) of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency, Chaudhry said, “PM Khan is the authority in appointing the DG ISI,” further adding that “all legal methods will be adopted in the appointment of the new director-general”.
Background:
It has been almost a week since Lieutenant (Lt) General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum was appointed as DG ISI, the post previously held by Lt Gen Faiz Hameed.
Interesting developments. Let’s see what happens next.

Balochistan CM denies stepping down as BAP chief
|
|
Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Alyani denied that he had formally resigned as the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) president, as the party named its vice-president, Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, as BAP’s acting chief.
According to Dawn, the chief minister said neither had he stepped down as the party president nor had he any such plans.
Blaming the “irresponsible social media [users]” for the confusion, he said no factions were being created in BAP.
What happened earlier?
The news of CM Jam Kamal’s resignation had surfaced earlier this month, amid a deepening political crisis in Balochistan and calls by BAP lawmakers and others for him to step down as the chief minister.
Dawn had reported at the time that the chief minister had announced his resignation in a tweet, wherein he had asked the party’s central organiser and general secretary to “announce BAP party elections at the earliest”.
You can see his tweet and let me know what do you think of it? To me, it seems like a farewell message.

Second Afghan refugee flight takes off for Spain from Pakistan
|
|
According to Geo News, Spain was expecting the arrival of the second flight of Afghan refugees from Pakistan, following the first flight for people who worked for Madrid in the war-torn country.
Previous evacuations:
Spanish evacuations have been weeks in the making, with Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares visiting Pakistan and Qatar in early September to lay the groundwork.
Madrid evacuated more than 2,000 people, most of them were Afghans who had worked for Spain and their families, during the western withdrawal as the Taliban seized power in Kabul in August.

Today is South Korean pop band BTS’ member Jimin’s birthday.
|
|
Last night, people remembered the October 12, 1999, coup when General Pervez Musharraf took over the country, declaring Martial Law and dissolving parliament. This particular hashtag was Nawaz Sharif’s statement upon Musharraf’s announcement.

|
Pakistani k-pop fans were wishing Jimin a happy birthday.

Uber and Careem have become ridiculously expensive so I recently found this application for my everyday travel. You just have to enter a fare amount and the available cars around you would start bidding on it. Believe me, you will get a ride in no time. A total life-saver.
