The Punjab government has appointed Javed Aslam as chairman of the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) for a three-year term, with immediate effect, following approval from the provincial cabinet.
The appointment was made under Section 8 of the Ravi Urban Development Act, 2020, according to a government notification issued after the cabinet’s approval was conveyed by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), Cabinet Wing.
The notification, dated October 2, 2026, said Aslam’s appointment had been approved by the provincial cabinet and would take effect immediately.
It added that the terms and conditions of his appointment would be determined by RUDA in accordance with Section 8 of the Act.
In a separate part of the notification, the Punjab government formally accepted the resignation of Shahid Ashraf Tarar as chairman of RUDA, also with immediate effect.
The resignation was accepted following approval by the provincial cabinet, according to the notification.
Section 8 of the Ravi Urban Development Act, 2020, provides the legal basis under which the provincial government makes the appointment, while the authority is responsible for settling the terms and conditions attached to the position, the notification said.
RUDA was established under the Ravi Urban Development Act, 2020, with the authority’s leadership appointed under the provisions of the legislation.
