Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan is deeply disappointed with his sister Aleema Khan, the leadership of the party and its protest movement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), lawmaker Sher Afzal Marwat has claimed.

According to Marwat, Khan is particularly unhappy with those leading the protest movement in KP, naming Sohail Afridi and Salman Akram Raja among those with whom the former ousted premier is displeased.

“Imran Khan is heavily disappointed in the KP movement and the people who are leading it,” he said, adding that Khan was also unhappy with the September timeline given for the protest.

Marwat also spoke about Khan’s recent transfer from Adiala jail to hospital and subsequent meeting with sister Aleema Khan.

He claimed that Khan, during the meeting, asked Aleema why the matter had been taken to the Supreme Court (SC) and that he was unaware that relief was secured through court proceedings until the development took place.

Marwat said Khan had also accused Aleema of reaching a deal over the timeline set for the protest, and that he had opposed his sister’s participation in the street movement, instructing party officials to keep her away from party affairs.

He quoted Khan as telling Aleema, “Why are you a part of the street movement despite my instructions not to?”

“He was against his sister doing the street movement,” Marwat said, adding that this was why Aleema had not been seen for the past three days.

On Khan’s medical treatment, Marwat claimed to have been told that the PTI founder had refused to visit Shifa International Hospital for two days before he was actually taken there for medical examination.

While Aleema Khan is yet to respond to Marwat’s claims, PTI chief Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has rubbished the same.
