The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has paid tribute to Chaudhry Abdul Jalil, widely known as “Chacha Cricket”, as the ongoing ODI series against Australia will be his last home soil.
The board shared a commemorative banner featuring Chacha Cricket along with a collage of his most memorable moments. The PCB also posted a message on social media, recognising his long-standing connection with Pakistan cricket.
“Thank you, Chacha Cricket,” the PCB wrote, calling him more than a fan, and a symbol of unwavering support for Pakistan cricket.
“Thank you, Chacha Cricket, for a lifetime of passion, memories and loyalty,” it added.
Chacha Cricket has supported Pakistan for nearly four decades, and stands among the most recognised fans in world cricket. He first came into prominence during Pakistan’s home series in Sharjah in the 1980s and later received official association with the PCB in 1996.
Over the years, he built a reputation for strong dedication to the national team. Reports say he left a well-paid job in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and sold personal belongings to continue travelling and supporting Pakistan cricket across the world.
He is known for his green kurta, white beard and a cap decorated with the Pakistani flag.
While his journey is coming to an end at home, reports said, Chacha is not ruling out one final overseas appearance as he hopes to travel to England this summer to watch Pakistan’s three-Test tour.
