Pakistan’s diplomatic role in securing a ceasefire between the United States (US) and Iran has drawn praise from across the world, and in an unusual turn, some of the loudest voices of appreciation have come from India.
The hashtags #PakGlobalPeaceMaker and #IslamabadTalk trended at the top on X, with Indian users, analysts, and public figures openly crediting Pakistan’s efforts for pulling two powers back from the edge of a wider conflict.
While thousands of others also resorted to undue criticism, Bollywood film critic KRK, known for his outspoken commentary, addressed Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif directly in a post on X to laud him for stopping a nuclear war.
“Thank you @CMShehbaz Saheb for stopping a nuclear war and saved not only gulf but the entire world. You will be remembered as a hero till the end of the world. God Bless you,” he wrote.
Indian journalist Aditya Menon also weighed in, giving credit to both Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership.
“With both sides acknowledging Pakistan’s efforts, PM Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir deserve credit for the 14 day ceasefire. India too will benefit from this and should avoid seeing this as a zero sum game with Pak. Israel remains the main obstacle,” he wrote.
Indian defence analyst Pravin Sawhney described PM Shehbaz Sharif’s diplomatic efforts as outstanding, praising the initiative that brought the two warring sides to the table.
Perhaps the most striking reaction came from Indian author Atul Khatri, who acknowledged just how unexpected his own words felt. “I thought I would never tweet this in my life but – Thank you Pakistan for brokering world peace,” he wrote on X.
The ceasefire brought a two-week halt to hostilities between the US and Iran and has been widely described as a significant diplomatic win for Pakistan, positioning Islamabad as a credible channel.
President Trump also directly credited PM Shehbaz and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir for their role in brokering the ceasefire as he called off what could have been a devastating attack on Wednesday morning.
