A Chinese national has issued a public clarification and apology regarding a viral video in which she had alleged that she was assaulted by female police officers at Islamabad’s Kohsar Police Station, stating that the entire incident stemmed from a misunderstanding.

The individual, identified as Xixi, released a statement clarifying that the claims made in her initial video were incorrect. “The video I posted on the internet was not based on facts,” Xixi stated, adding that the situation developed due to an ongoing issue with her landlord that had prompted her to visit the police station.

She noted that being a foreign national in the country contributed to the friction, stating, “Due to differences in language and culture, and since I am a foreigner, some misunderstandings arose, and I ended up sharing that video on social media.”

In her updated statement, she expressed appreciation for local law enforcement personnel and the community response. “I am extremely grateful to the Islamabad Police, all the officers, the women police personnel, and the people of Pakistan,” she stated, noting that she received full support and assistance during the resolution of the matter.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Islamabad had previously directed the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kohsar to launch a formal inquiry into the viral footage.

The circulating video footage displays female officers from the Islamabad police arguing with and allegedly mistreating the woman.

According to reports, the incident happened when the foreign woman contacted law enforcement regarding a financial dispute in Sector F-6. She was subsequently moved to the Kohsar Police Station, where she claimed that instead of receiving assistance, female police personnel physically abused her.

Prior to the apology, a police spokesperson had noted that initial assessments indicated the underlying dispute was of a civil nature, with authorities aiming to resolve the matter through dialogue.
