Pakistan’s campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow has ended with just one medal, marking one of the poorest performances in the country’s history at the event.

The lone medal came from boxer Fatima Zahra in the women’s 60kg category, and it stands as a bronze rather than the silver Pakistan managed the last time its tally fell this low.

Pakistan sent 21 athletes to Glasgow across six sports, but only Zahra returned with a medal. She reached the semi-finals after defeating New Zealand’s Jordan Wilson 5-0, a result that guaranteed her at least bronze under the tournament’s format, in which both losing semi-finalists receive a medal. She then lost her semi-final to Canada’s Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh, who went on to win silver. The bronze also ended Pakistan’s 12-year wait for a Commonwealth Games boxing medal and made Zahra the first Pakistani woman to win a boxing medal in the event’s history.

This is only the second time Pakistan has finished a Commonwealth Games with a single medal.

The first was Kuala Lumpur 1998, where the country’s sole medal was a silver, a better result than this year’s bronze. The only campaign worse than 2026 came at Auckland 1990, when Pakistan left without a single medal.

Two of Pakistan’s biggest medal hopes fell short in Glasgow. Judoka Shah Hussain Shah, a former Commonwealth Games silver and bronze medallist, was knocked out in his very first bout on the last day of the event.

Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, the reigning Commonwealth champion and gold medallist from Birmingham 2022, also struggled to find rhythm. He opened with a foul before managing a best throw of 77.41 metres, leaving him outside the top eight and out of medal contention.

The result marks a steep decline from Pakistan’s showing four years ago.

At the Birmingham 2022 Games, Pakistan won seven medals in total, including two golds, three silvers and two bronzes, finishing 18th on the medal table.
