Pakistan’s Ghulam Mustafa Bashir has qualified for the medal round of the men’s 25 meter rapid fire pistol event at the Asian Games in Japan.

Bashir finished sixth after the two qualification stages. He scored 578 points with 19 inner tens. He shot 289 in stage one and 289 in stage two.

The final takes place on Thursday at the Aichi Prefectural Shooting Range, on the last day of the shooting programme.

India’s Anish Bhanwala also reached the final. He finished ninth in qualification with 576 points. South Korea placed three shooters in the top eight, and each country can send only two shooters to the final, so Bhanwala moved into the medal round.

Bashir has competed in the event at three Olympic Games: Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. He won bronze in the 25 meter rapid fire pistol at the 2022 World Championships in Cairo.

He also reached this final at the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, where he finished sixth.
