A second-year student was found dead in a hostel room at a private university in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area of Lahore.
While initial findings suggest cardiac arrest as the possible cause of death, the deceased, identified as Ahmed Adnan, was a resident of Kasur district and was enrolled at the university under its National Outreach Programme (NOP).
Defence B police Station House Officer (SHO) said that the university administration informed authorities on Thursday after Adnan was found unresponsive in his hostel room.
Police were subsequently dispatched to the campus, while the student’s parents were informed of his death.
The SHO said no visible signs of violence were found on the student’s body during initial examination at the scene.
Police later arranged a postmortem examination and according to initial findings, cardiac arrest was suspected to be the likely cause, though no further details were immediately available.
The police official said Adnan’s family was not willing to initiate legal proceedings into the death, and no additional information regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident was released.
The final postmortem report is awaited.
